Sugar-free, Dairy-free Pumpkin Pecan Apple Dip

I doubt if our Grandmothers ever considered dipping apples into some sweet syrupy concoction. Their apples were picked from the tree, and either made into cider, sauce, pies or eaten whole! Our culture today has fallen in love with dips! There are various dips for chips, crackers, pretzels, veggies and fruit. Today’s recipe is something I put together that won’t add extra sugar or dairy to my diet. My friend, Bonnie, recently gave me some SunnyDew, which is a liquid stevia natural sweetener. I love it!

Since I have been trying to limit my dairy intake, I substituted Tofutti for cream cheese. It is a soy-based alternative. I mixed an 8 oz. carton, with 1/3 c. pumpkin, 1 t. cinnamon, 1/4 t. cloves, 1 t. vanilla and 12 drops of liquid stevia. Mix until smooth and top with chopped pecans. Serve with sliced apples!

This dip is creamy and rich tasting! It has a slight pumpkin pie flavor and the nuts add the perfect crunch factor. You won’t have to feel guilty about dredging your apples slices in this dip!

Pumpkin Pecan Apple Dip

1 8oz. package cream cheese (I used soy substitute, Tofutti)
10 drops liquid stevia
1/3 c. pumpkin
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. cloves
1 t. vanilla
Chopped pecans

Mix first 5 ingredients well. Top with chopped pecans. Serve with sliced apples.
