My sister-in-law, Cindy, creates the most amazing salads! When you dine at her home, one entire counter is reserved for salad bar. You won’t find sickly sweet calorie laden bowls of creamy salad, instead you will find color, nutrition, taste and texture. She begins with a huge bowl of mixed greens, followed by smaller bowls filled with crispy veggies, sliced fruits, crunchy nuts and finally, her fantastic homemade Balsamic Dressing.
I had some left-over rotisserie chicken breast, so I created a “Cindy” salad! I filled my plate with mixed greens, sliced strawberries, green onions and toasted walnuts…and drizzled her amazing dressing over the works!
There was good crunch factor in my salad today!
This is a photo of Cindy putting last minute preparations on her salad bar! You can’t see all the goodies behind her!
Balsamic Salad Dressing
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. olive oil
1/3 c. balsamic vinegar
1/3 c. catsup
1 t. onion powder
1 t. garlic powder
2 t. Worcestershire sauce
dash hot sauce
Pour all into blender and mix well. Store in covered container in refrigerator.

Salads are awesome when you put some thought into it. Whenever I put a couple of salads together and a simple piece of simply cooked meat I always feel I’m sitting down to something special, interesting little balsamic dressing mixture she’s got going on there
