Remember the huge rump roast that has been buried in my freezer for almost a year? Can you find it here?
Well, tonight we are having Ron’s father for dinner and I felt compelled to feed my men some men’s meat. Like I said the other day, Ron has been a pretty good sport eating fish, chicken and beans so tonight Sweetums you get some real red meat! I had taken the rump roast out of the freezer the night before and by morning it was pretty well thawed. I took my trusty Cutco knife (yep, by the way, a college student came by today and gave me the sales pitch. Again.) and cut out the obvious parts of fat and almost took a finger of mine too. I know this is not the cut of meat for a slow cooker, but men don’t care. I browned both sides and placed it in the slow cooker on low. I opened a packet of dry onion soup and placed it on top of the meat. Four hours later I added potatoes and carrots, salt and pepper. I also added 1 cup of beef broth that 3T. of tomato paste had been whisked in. Four hours later…my men were happy.
Men like bread too.
I did not get any photos of the plated food because men do not like to wait. They like their food hot and don’t care about pretty arrangements on the table. They were happy.
