Last week we celebrated 37 years together! What a journey together! The last few months I have thought many times of the tremendous blessing of a covenant marriage in the Lord! Why was I blessed to have such a solid and fulfilling marriage to a man who loves me like Christ loves His church? What did I do to deserve this?
One thing for certain, we both had parents who raised us with deep respect for God’s Word. I am certain they prayed for us everyday, that we would seek God’s will for our life companion. What an advantage to have the love of God and faithfulness in marriage, lived out before us as we grew up. I never doubted my parents love for the Lord or their love for each other.
Neither Ron or I have ever doubted each other’s faithfulness. We have been secure in each other’s love and secure in our relationship with our Savior. Oh, if I could pass one thing to my children and grandchildren… Seek God first in your life, then carefully and prayerfully seek His will about marriage. First and foremost, make sure your future spouse is a faithful follower of Christ, seeking to be more and more like Him. And parents…pray pray pray for your children’s future spouse. It is never to early to lay this request before the Lord. And, let your children know how you are praying for this.
I hope we have 37 more years to share our love, but if God would will only 37 more days, I would praise Him for the blessing of a godly marriage! It makes life beautiful everyday!
